Sam Scrimgeour - GB Team Selection

E-mail Print PDF

Sam starting rowing at Strathclyde and has just this year finished studying an MEng in Aero-Mechanical engineering. For those of you who don't know, Sam was selected this year for the GB U23 Quad and has been coached by Alistair Warnock and Lindsay Dick.

There's a bit about him and his background on the GB rowing site. The link is http://www.britishrowing.org/gb/biographies/sam-scrimgeour

Just checked the results and it would appear that they finished 3rd taking home a bronze. Also worth a mention were Andy homes in the four finishing up with a bronze and Polly Swann finishing 4th in the A final, both from Scotland also.

Results for Sam can be found here http://www.worldrowing.com/index.php?pageid=91 by selecting the event

Incredible achievement there by Sam, Alistair and Lindsay, and best of luck to them in the future

Welcome to Strathclyde University Boat Club’s Website!

We are part of Strathclyde University Sports Union and row on the River Clyde. Our boathouse it situated on Glasgow Green, near to the blue bridge. If you have ever seen boats out, we are the ones with the distinctive spotty oars!

We always welcome new members with any level of experience, from complete beginners to future Olympians! We are also always on the look out for new coxes. Don’t worry if you have never done it before, practice make perfect! So if you are small with a loud voice please get in touch. Training takes place on the river on Saturday and Sunday mornings. The club races regularly and has had some great results recently. Take a look at the newsletters and results sections for more information.

Although we train hard, we play hard too. From gym sessions to circuits to on the water training we are a sociable club and have regular pub sessions and nights out. Recent examples are pub golf, a Rubix cube party, Halloween party, Sports Ball and Christmas Dinner.

Please take time to browse the website and find out more about the club. If you would like more information don’t hesitate to contact the committee. You will find email addresses under the SUBC club committee tab on the left.
